Description

This is an exceptional automobile, with a great documented history. This is an original one off, 4 door convertible. The car has not been restored and is in very good condition. It has a fantastic patina. The car is matching numbers and comes also with all the factory production sheets. This unique car is featured in 2 books (Coachwork on Rolls-Royce 1906-1939, page 316 and Rolls-Royce et Bentley de l’aube du siècle au nouveau millénaire, page 41). Finished in a medium blue with a dark blue top and its original leather and wood inside, the Thrupp & Maberly coachwork integrated a rare, if not one-off, roll-up divider window between the front and rear compartments. This divider plays a dual role, providing not just privacy with the top raised, but wind protection for rear-seat passengers in fairer weather. Only 492 Rolls Royce Wraith were made, out of which only 42 with a Thrupp & Maberly coachwork. Remarkably, both small and large tool sets are nearly complete and in their proper trays. It is a multiple award winner and was no stranger to regional events for many years when presented by its fourth owner Mr. Merrifield. Resplendent in great operating condition for touring or Rolls-Royce Club events whenever the mood strikes, this exceedingly-rare example of a pre-war Wraith resembles in many ways the coachwork of the much larger Phantom series cars, while providing at least as pleasant a driving experience for the enthusiast. Virtually unmolested from new and with particular details and provenance, it represents an opportunity nearly unmatched by any other example.
