Description

This 300SL Gullwing was shipped new to the Mercedes-Benz dealership in New York on 1st March 1955. The car was equipped with rudge wheels and belly pans. The first owner was Mr. Wasser, who was living in Rancho Santa Fe, California. Some years later it passed to its second owner Mr. Mike Sines, who was living in Hermosa Beach, also in California. In 1989 it underwent a complete restoration by Scott Restorations in Panorama City, California. The restoration took 3 years and costed 150.000$. One year after its restoration, Harry Woodnorth who was a classic car dealer and broker in Chicago, sold the 300 SL to Mr. Thierry Dehaeck and it was shipped to Belgium. Pictures of the car just before being shipped are in the file. Since its arrival in Belgium the 300 SL Gullwing has been maintained meticulously and always stored in perfect conditions. The car is documented with an impressive amount of invoices all over the years. In 1993 it participated at the Mercedes-Benz Europa Rally and won the 1st prize. In 1995 it participated at the Tour de France Auto, in 1998 it participated at the Parc de Bagatelle Concours d’élégance. This car participated at so many shows and rally’s, that it is impossible to list them all here. Nevertheless we want to mention that is also participated several times to the very well know “Le Zoute Grand Prix” rally in Knokke, Belgium. All those participations are very well documented by many pictures that were taken over the years. This 300 SL Gullwing also was shown in several magazines and lately in “Rétroviseur” in January 2019. This car is extremely documented and also on file, you will find the original sales brochures and an instruction Manual.
